First Oil Refinery
First oil refinery in Malaysia was built by Royal Dutch Shell (SHELL) and located in Lutong, near Miri in the year 1941 and was the oldest in Malaysia. The refinery produces 30,000 barrels daily. The oil produces from the refinery was sold in Sarawak and Sabah, as well as exported to West Malaysia and Singapore. Today, with the growth of Miri, while Lutong is absorbed as a suburb.
